Aaron Tippin - Read Between The Lines

(aaron tippin/michael puryear)

I've got some mighty tall tales from livin' hard and fast
I'm a walkin,' talkin,' livin,' breathin,' portrait of my past
I've double-crossed the devil, prayed the lord my soul to keep
Escaped some early graves by the skin of my teeth
All the deepest secrets of my soul the world can plainly see
'cause everything i've ever done is written all over me
If you just read between the lines of this well-weathered face of mine
Every wrinkle, every scar was a painful work of art
That reminds me of mistakes that i've made
And no story i can tell can tell it quite as well
As these souvenirs that livin's left behind
So take a long, hard look at the cover of this book
And read between the lines
And read between the lines

They might be hard to find on this rigid face of stone
There are pleasant deep impressions that are solid as gold
And i'll be the first to tell you that this ol' boy's been blessed
'cause even the worst of times have turned out for the best
Like roads on a map they cross a battered stretch of skin
You can trace your way through memory lane to anywhere i've been

If you just read between the lines of this well-weathered face of mine
Every wrinkle, every scar was a painful work of art
That reminds me of mistakes that i've made
And no story i can tell can tell it quite as well
As these souvenirs that livin's left behind
So take a long, hard look at the cover of this book
And read between the lines
And read between the lines

Aaron Tippin feat. michael p. heeney - She Feels Like A Brand New Man Tonight

Her last lonely teardrop fell
Along about nine o’clock
His memory was history
Before she hit the parking lot
She busted through them swingin?doors
Sashaying to and fro
She’s got a new attitude yes she’s over that dude
And she wants the world to know that

(oh yes) she feels like a brand new man tonight
She didn’t come in here to hang her head and cry
She’s through throwing good love away
On some boy that don’t treat her right
She feels like a brand new man tonight

Just like a kid in a candy store
She’s checking out the merchandise
But she wants to find the keeping kind
Who will keep her satisfied

And he’s gotta be strong gotta be tough
And he’s gotta have a tender touch
So if you fit the bill brother don’t sit still
Come on step right up ‘cause

(oh yes) she feels like a brand new man tonight
She didn’t come in here to hang her head and cry
She’s through throwing good love away
On some boy that don’t treat her right
She feels like a brand new man tonight

(oh yes) she feels like a brand new man tonight
She didn’t come in here to hang her head and cry
She’s through throwing good love away
On some boy that don’t treat her right
She feels like a brand new man tonight

I said she feels like a brand new man tonight

Aaron Tippin - She Made A Memory Out Of Me

(aaron tippin/buddy brock)

You're looking at a man that's almost gone
Had a good woman and i went and did her wrong
Honey found out i was lovin' double time
She moved me from her heart to the back of her mind
She made a memory out of me
Just a vision of the past is all you see
Like a statue of stone a part of history
Yeah, that woman made a memory out of me

Lord, i'm so low down for what i've done
I don't even make a shadow when i'm walking in the sun
I hide my face, hang my chin
Just another sad story 'bout an old has been

She made a memory out of me
Just a vision of the past is all you see
Like a statue of stone a part of history
Yeah, that woman made a memory out of me

Say lord, that baby made a memory out of me
Just a vision of the past is all you see
Like a statue of stone a part of history
Yeah, that woman made a memory out of me

Lord, that baby made a memory out of me

Aaron Tippin - She's Got A Way Of Makin' Me Forget

(aaron tippin/charlie craig)

She said when she found me i was barely hanging on
To the memory of a love that had been long gone
There must have been somebody else i don't remember who it is
'cause she's got a way of makin' me forget

When she takes me in her arms i get lost in time
She takes complete control of my heart and my mind
I'm not haunted by the past old memories or regrets
Oh she's got a way of makin' me forget

She's taught me that tomorrow is a reason to live
Don't blame and accuse just love and forgive
Now every grudge i ever had no longer exists
'cause she's got a way of makin' me forget

When she takes me in her arms i get lost in time
She takes complete control of my heart and my mind
I'm not haunted by the past old memories or regrets
Oh she's got a way of makin' me forget

Oh she's got a way of makin' me forget

She said when she found me i was barely hanging on
To the memory of a love that had been long gone
There must have been somebody else i don't remember who it is
'cause she's got a way of makin' me forget

Oh she's got a way of makin' me forget

Aaron Tippin - Mission From Hank

(don schlitz/thom schuyler)

There was a brand new stranger at the old bus station
He said music city is my destination
He said the whole wide world’s gonna sing my song
And you can take that to the bank

I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission from hank

He got a furnished room and a job at the market
He kept a little notebook in his back pocket
And every time you’d see him he was writing a song
And he would never leave one piece blank (he’d say)

I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission from hank

He sang when no one would listen
So he sang until they hung on every word

Ah then one day his phone started ringing
They said we want you and the songs you’ve been singing
And the kid said fine, just give me some time
To talk to my patron saint (you see)

I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission from hank

(yes sir,) that night as he laid in the darkness
Ol?luke the drifter came to him and said

Oh now here’s your chance boy go on and take it
You sing from the heart and you’re gonna make it
But if anybody tries to change you
Into something that you ain’t (you tell ‘em)

I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission from hank

I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission
I’m on a mission from hank

Aaron Tippin - My Blue Angel

(aaron tippin/kim williams/philip douglas)

Somewhere out there in the smoky air
Where the night is neon blue
Surrounded by strangers, she don't know the dangers
One drink could lead her to
And if she falls, it's all my fault
For doin' a good woman wrong
I can't be far behind her
Oh, lord, help me find her
Before my angel is gone
Looking for my blue angel
The same one that flew from my arms last night
If you see my blue angel
Tell her that heaven without her feels like hell tonight

Last night when she left i told myself
That she wouldn't go too far
Now i'm not so sure how long her tears
Could last in a stranger's arms
She's wounded i know and feeling so low
She could fall at anytime
I don't know what i'd do if i were to lose
That precious angel of mine

Looking for my blue angel
The same one that flew from my arms last night
If you see my blue angel
Tell her that heaven without her feels like hell tonight

Yes, tell her heaven without her feels like hell tonight

Aaron Tippin - My Kind Of Town

(aaron tippin/sanger d. shafer)

This is my kind of town
I ain't never seen nothin' like it
In all my traveling 'round
If this old highway ever gives me up
And i think about settling down
Well, this is my kind of town

There ain't no place on god's green earth
I'd rather be right now
Folks around here sure seem to know
What living's all about
I could hang around here forever
Lord, i feel so much at home
When it comes time for me to leave
It'll be so hard to go 'cause

This is my kind of town
I ain't never seen nothin' like it
In all my traveling 'round
If this old highway ever gives me up
And i think about settling down
Well, this is my kind of town

Now, i ain't the kind to just muscle in
On someone else's world
But from what i've seen it seems to me
They got lots of extra girls
And if i could find me one of them
And a little house nearby
Well, i'd park these boots, hang this hat
And stay here 'til i die 'cause

This is my kind of town
I ain't never seen nothin' like it
In all my traveling 'round
If this old highway ever gives me up
And i think about settling down
Well, this is my kind of town

If this old highway ever gives me up
And i think about settling down
Well, this is my kind of town

Aaron Tippin - Nothin' In The World

(aaron tippin/terry brown)

Well, i've moaned the blues since she slammed that door
Drank and cried and i walked the floor
And her memory's backed me against the wall
So tonight i'm gonna end it all
You can say goodbye to this lonely guy
Nothin' in the world can save me but a girl

Help me, help me, i'm about to die
There's a lovesick man on the prowl tonight
Don't call the doctor, don't call the law
When a good lovin' woman can fix it all
I gotta have another she to rescue me
Nothin' in the world can save me but a girl

Well, i know y'all think that i've gone mad
I'm out huntin' me one like i just had
It's like grabbin' a hold of a high line wire
Or jumpin' out of the pan straight into the fire
Oh, but only a man can understand
Nothin' in the world can save me but a girl

Help me, help me, i'm about to die
There's a lovesick man on the prowl tonight
Don't call the doctor, don't call the law
When a good lovin' woman can fix it all
I gotta have another she to rescue me
Nothin' in the world can save me but a girl

Aaron Tippin - People Like Us

(david lee murphy/kim tribble)

There's a pool hall juke box, sawdust floors
Three plays for a quarter, and we still want more
Yeah there's a reason for fast cars
And that double yellow line
Heartbreak songs and good cheap two dollar wine

'cause of people like us
There's honky tonk music, long neck bottles
Rusty old pickup trucks
Oh at last call the lights go up
And its all because of people like us

I got a second hand boat, the last numbers in jail
There's second hand smoke, everywhere i exhale
There's greasy little truckstops, all night di
No-tell motel's and everybody knows why

'cause of people like us
There's honky tonk music, long neck bottles
Rusty old pickup trucks
Oh at last call the lights go up
And its all because of people like us

'cause of people like us
There's honkey tonk music, long neck bottles
Rusty old pickup trucks
Oh at last call the lights go up
'cause of people ... people like us

There's honkey tonk music, long neck bottles
Rusty old pickup trucks
And at last call the lights go up
And its all because of people like us
Late night people like us
Hard lovin people like us
Hahah, just fun lovin people like us
Hillbilly people like us!

Aaron Tippin - Many, Many, Many Beers Ago

With every drink i take, it's gettin' harder to recall
And i ain't gonna stop until i forget it all
'cause once upon a time she used to love me so
But that was many, many, many beers ago
All my tin can buddies that help me ease the pain
One by one they remind me she's not coming back again
Just how long she's been gone i can't say i really know
Lord, it's been many, many, many beers ago

I don't need a watch or a clock on the wall
To tell me just how long it took for me to lose it all
And this gettin' over her is going pretty slow
It's been many, many, many beers ago

Yeah, all my tin can buddies that help me ease the pain
One by one they remind me she's not coming back again
Just how long she's been gone i can't say i really know
But it's been many, many, many beers ago

Yes, it's been many, many, many beers ago

Aaron Tippin - Lovin' Me Into An Early Grave

(aaron tippin/philip douglas)

Always wanted one to put me to the test
A hot blooded woman that could love a man to death
I got what i wanted but lord i gotta say
She's lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave
I get up in the morning i'm headed for the door
The last kiss leads to a thousand more
I'm late for work but i can't get away
She's lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave

Finally found a reason to live
But lord she's gonna kill me as good as she is
But if you've gotta go well it's the only way
She's lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave

Now i wouldn't trade places with any man alive
But man alive it's hard to survive
But i'm gonna keep trying till my dying day
She's lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave

Finally found a reason to live
But lord she's gonna kill me as good as she is
But if you've gotta go well it's the only way
She's lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave

Lovin' me into an early grave
Lovin' me into an early grave

Aaron Tippin - Lookin' Back At Myself

(aaron tippin/leigh reynolds)

I put down my razor
Toweled off my face
Thought i saw a new wrinkle
And another strand of gray
That one little scar
Kept catching my eye
Reminding me how time does fly
I was only a kid
When i had that first fight
But i still don’t give in
When i believe that i’m right
And at least i can stand here
And like what i see
In the man that kid turned out to be

Lookin?back at myself
It’s plain to see
That the cold hands of time
Ain’t had much mercy on me
But i played a straight game
With the cards that were dealt
And i can look straight ahead
Lookin?back at myself

Now i ain’t been no angel
But i learned right from wrong
Thanks to mamma and a hickory
And a love so strong
Yes she taught the rule
That life is lived by
I ain’t forgot what you get
For getting?out of line
Now this old world throws some punches
And i’ve taken a few
Now my skin’s tough as leather
But i’ve grown strong with the truth
There’s been so many times i could’ve just stepped aside
Ah but then i couldn’t stand here with this peace of mind

Lookin?back at myself
It’s plain to see
That the cold hands of time
Ain’t had much mercy on me
But i played a straight game
With the cards that were dealt
And i can look straight ahead
Lookin?back at myself

Still look straight ahead
Lookin?back at myself

Aaron Tippin - Let's Talk About You

(aaron tippin/buddy brock)

Baby, you make me feel like a million dollar bill
And you cute little smile's driving me hog wild
Yeah, i'm one lucky dog that just can't lose
But that's enough about me
Let's talk about you

Let's talk about the way i love your walk
Talk about the way that i love your talk
Did i happen to mention that i love everything you do
That's enough about me
Let's talk about you

Your sweet loving ways just make my day
And that twinkle in your eye's keeping me up at night
Oh, i love this life i'm living
Thanks to you know who
But that's enough about me
Let's talk about you

Let's talk about the way i love your walk
Talk about the way that i love your talk
Did i happen to mention that i love everything you do
That's enough about me
Let's talk about you

I just can't say enough about your sweet love
I could your praise 'til i'm blue in the face
I could ramble on and on like a babbling fool
But that's enough about me
Let's talk about you

Let's talk about the way i love your walk
Talk about the way that i love your talk
Did i happen to mention that i love everything you do
That's enough about me
Let's talk about you

Let's talk about you
Let's talk about you
Let's talk about you

Aaron Tippin - Ten Pound Hammer

If somebody would've told me
One woman could hold me
And leave me weak as a baby
I'd have told'em they were crazy
Chorus
Love hit me like a
Ten pound hammer
A ten pound hammer
With a five foot swing

I used to play it so cool
Lord knows that i was no fool
No chains would ever bind me
But those days are all behind me-
You see
(repeat chorus)

I never saw love's power
Just the hearts and the flowers
When i fell it was frightning
It struk me down like lightning-
When
(repeat chorus)

I used to live like a rolling stone
Nobody had a hold on me
All it took was a kiss from you
To bring me right to my knees
(repeat chorus)

Yeah, that's all she wrote

Aaron Tippin - I've Got A Good Memory

(aaron tippin/buddy brock)

It was a quarter till three on the day that we met
Exactly nine o' five on the night that she left
Well i tried my best but i still can't forget
How good she used to be
And it's just too bad i've got a good memory
Good memories are hard to leave behind
I've got a bushel basket of 'em running through my mind
I still love her but she don't love me
And it's just too bad i've got a good memory
Lord, it's just too bad i've got a good memory

She had a front page smile and a watch-me walk
Left a love light burning that i can't turn off
Her first impression left a lasting thought
That keeps coming back to me
And it's just too bad i've got a good memory

Good memories are hard to leave behind
I've got a bushel basket of 'em running through my mind
I still love her but she don't love me
And it's just too bad i've got a good memory
Lord, it's just too bad i've got a good memory

And it's just too bad i've got a good memory
Lord, it's just too bad i've got a good memory

Aaron Tippin - In My Wildest Dreams

(aaron tippin/donny kees)

I’ve built a million raving beauties out of pure make-believe
Hopin?my imagination might run away with me
Thought i’d pictured every vision that a man could dream about
Till you walked through those swinging doors
And stepped down off that cloud
What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams
A walkin? talkin? lovin?fantasy
Did you come here tonight just to rescue me
What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams

I thought i’d died and went to heaven when you sat down next to me
Lord, and i said to myself this is too good to believe
You look like you belong in a sunday school choir
Instead of in this honky tonk settin?me on fire

What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams
A walkin? talkin? lovin?fantasy
Did you come here tonight just to rescue me
What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams

Are you just wishful thinkin? a figment of my mind
I’ll worry about that tomorrow, right now it’s closing time

What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams
A walkin? talkin? lovin?fantasy
Did you come here tonight just to rescue me
What’s an angel like you doing in my wildest dreams

Aaron Tippin - I Wouldn't Have It Any Other Way

(aaron tippin/butch curry)

I've walked the straight and narrow and i've worn a rebel's brand
Sometimes i've had to go without for bein' my own man
I've rallied to the cause when i knew the cause was right
I've cut against the grain, but i've kept my peace of mind
And i wouldn't have it any other way
If there's a price for bein' me, that's one i'll have to pay
I'll take the good and bear the bad until my dyin' day
I wouldn't have it any other way
Oh, i wouldn't have it any other way

I could have taken a beaten path every time trouble starts
I'd rather take a beatin' than to ever cross my heart
Stickin' to my guns, can't be sold or bought
Holdin' to my honor no matter what the cost

And i wouldn't have it any other way
If there's a price for bein' me, that's one i'll have to pay
I'll take the good and bear the bad until my dyin' day
I wouldn't have it any other way
Oh, i wouldn't have it any other way

I wouldn't have it any other way

Aaron Tippin - If I Had To Do It Over

(aaron tippin/buddy brock)

When i look back on this life and all the things that i have done
Lord, i've paid some pretty prices for never backing up
But now that i've had time alone and i've been through every page
There's only one part of my story that i wish that i could change
If i had it to do over and i knew then what i know now
I'd do anything i had to, to keep you from walkin' out
Your love would be the only reason for anything that i'd undo
Yes, if i had it to do over, i'd do it over you

There are bridges i have burned and there are promises i've made
And the ones that i have broken i'll have to carry to my grave
And when i stand before the throne and answer for my every deed
The only one that i'll regret is what i've done to you and me

If i had it to do over and i knew then what i know now
I'd do anything i had to, to keep you from walkin' out
Your love would be the only reason for anything that i'd undo
Yes, if i had it to do over, i'd do it over you

Yes, if i had it to do over, i'd do it over you

Aaron Tippin - I Got It Honest

(aaron tippin/bruce burch/marcus franklin johnson)

It ain't nothin' but a small frame house on an acre lot
It ain't that much diff'rent from any other house on the block
And it may not look like we got all our share of the promise
But at least one thing's for sure, i got it honest

Roll out of the sack every mornin', head on down to the mill
Give 'em all i got for eight, 'cause that's the deal
If you'll check out my paycheck
Well, you'll see that there ain't that much on it
But ev'ry single penny i'm paid, i got it honest

I never had to hang my head in shame
For puttin' a price tag on my name
Never turned my back on what i believe
Or let my heart be ruled by greed
'cause buddy if i didn't earn it, i don't want it
That way i can always say, i got it honest

Now you ain't looking at some dude
That was born with a silver spoon in his mouth
And i might seem like some kind of low-life
To that high-falutin' crowd
But i'm plain spoken, straight talkin'
And damn proud of what i have acomplished
Some folks appreciate that and some don't
But, i got it honest

Now when i die, i may not leave my kids a fortune
But i hope they know'd my life stood for things that were important
And i'll hand out the same sturdy old values of my daddy and my momma
It made me every ounce of what i am and i got it honest

I never had to hang my head in shame
For puttin' a price tag on my name
Never turned my back on what i believe
Or let my heart be ruled by greed
'cause brother if i didn't earn it, i don't want it
That way i can always say, i got it honest
Friend there ain't no doubt about it, i got it honest

Aaron Tippin - I Miss Misbehavin'

(aaron tippin/charlie craig/mark collie)

I used to smoke and stay out late
Sometimes i drank more that i ate
I used to think, man, i was bad
Why, i'd fight at the drop of a hat
I took a walk on the wild side
I guess i'm lucky that i survived
I had some days i can't forget
And sometimes at night i think about 'em yet
I miss misbehavin'
Yeah, i miss misbehavin'
I've settled down now
But sometimes i miss misbehavin'

There was a girl i do recall
She was as tough as she was tall
We used to dance to every song
Lord, we held each other all night long
She used to call me her honey baby
I called her my miss misbehavin'
I wonder if she's still around
And if she's out there misbehavin' now

I miss misbehavin'
Yeah, i miss misbehavin'
I've settled down now
But sometimes i miss misbehavin'

Yeah, i've settled down now
But sometimes i miss misbehavin'
